The Man
My work explores various forms of love from a male perspective.

I grew up surrounded by resilience, music, and the power of storytelling. My grandmother raised me and my two younger brothers, and through her, I learned that love isn’t just what you say, it’s what you do.
Music was always playing in our home, from the moment we woke up to the time we went to sleep. I remember hearing Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On and watching my grandmother’s eyes flood with emotion at the line, “Mother, mother, there’s too many of you crying.” But she never let a tear fall. That was the moment I realized music wasn’t just sound, it was a key, unlocking emotions that words alone couldn’t reach.
Then there was photography. My grandmother never went anywhere without a camera in her hand. She documented everything, big moments, small moments, the in-between. By the time I was old enough to really notice, we had a fish tank overflowing with photo albums, each one holding decades of stories. Family and friends would come from all over just to flip through them, reliving moments frozen in time. That’s when I understood that images aren’t just pictures, they’re proof. Proof that we were here, that we loved, that we mattered.
My name, B/ue Robin, is a reflection of all of that. “Robin’s son” is a tribute to my lineage, a reminder of where I come from. My Indigenous roots have always connected me to something bigger, stories passed down, traditions carried, the unspoken wisdom of those who walked before me. My art is an extension of that.
With a pen, a brush, and a vision, I create. My work is about love in all its forms, the beauty, the weight, the complexity of it. As a man, I know what it means to navigate emotions in a world that often tells us to keep them locked away. But love isn’t meant to be contained. It’s meant to move, to challenge, to heal. Through my work, I explore that balance, that push and pull, and invite others to find themselves in it.
