Drowning in Amywine
In 2016 I began a 50-part musical exploration in my art. This journey began with a simple dream about Amy Winehouse. This world is littered with 8 billion people. That thought alone can make us individually feel insignificant.
Amy Winehouse was a powerhouse of talent encased in a simple jaded human being. She, like the rest of us, had her vices. Vices. My dream of Amy left me awake thinking of my own vices. I’m an artist. A three-word phrase that translates to I am a powerhouse of talent encased in a simple jaded human being. I have my vices.
Up until beginning this series, I had felt numb and subdued. 30 years I had been living, drawing and creating without critically considering my feelings. I began my series with a dream. I awoke, needing to take the edge off. So, I had a glass of Amy wine. A toast to Ms. Winehouse. A toast to facing our vices.
